Obituary for Marjorie Bertha Braaten
Marjorie Bertha Braaten late of Birch Hills, passed away January 14, 2021 in Prince Albert, Sk.
Marjorie was born on the farm near Waitville, and took her schooling at the one room schoolhouse East of Waitville. Her work career started at the Sanatorium for tuberculosis in Prince Albert. She met dad in the early 50's and they were married Nov. 9, 1953. Mother was a stay at home mom raising us 3 boys & was a great cook and seamstress. She sewed most of the clothes that we wore as young boys including summer jackets. She made many bridesmaids dresses and hemmed lots of pants. She was an accomplished quilter. Mom helped out at the restaurant when they were partners in the ownership of the Royalite. Mom worked at the Birch Hills hospital as a custodian and kitchen helper. Mom also volunteered at the Birchview home doing hair for twenty years.
Marjorie is survived by her sons: Calvin(Debbie) Braaten, Darryl(Wendy) Braaten, and Keith(Joanne) Braaten ; her grandchildren: Troy Braaten, Willie(Kaylee Lukan) Braaten, and Naomi(Dustin) Shulhan; her granddaughter n-law: Christie(Trevor) Braaten-Ernst; her great grandchildren: Sienna, Alivia, Kamden, Sterling, Gage, Madoxx, Kenna, Kennan, and Lytreal; her siblings and in-law: Jean Macfie, Clifford Johnstone, and Arleigh(Annelle) Johnstone; her sister in-laws: Shirley Skaar, Thelma Opseth, Marlene Morris, and Ruth Braaten; as well as numerous nephews and neices;
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Harold(2012); her grandson Cory Braaten; Her parents : William and Annabelle(Bird) Johnstone; her siblings and in-laws: Jim Johnstone, Hector Johnstone, Howard(Hellen) Johnstone, Hazel(Einar) Erickson, Tom Johnstone, Wesley Macfie, and Gwen Johnstone; nephews and nieces: Glenda, Carol, Ross, Lois, and Gary; her father and mother in-law: Martin and Frances Braaten; her brothers and sisters in-law: Louis Braaten, Mervin(Lorna) Braaten, Jean(Gord) Lockwood, Ray Braaten, Cliff Skaar, Elmer Opseth, Robert Morris
