Obituary for Anne Marie Antoshewski
Mrs. Anne Marie Antoshewski, recently of Saskatoon and late of Prince Albert SK, passed away at the Royal University Hospital on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the age of 82 years. Anne was born in Farnborough, England on December 17, 1938 to Daniel and Agnes (nee Quigley) Law.
Anne grew up in St. Mary Cray (London, England) where she attended St. Philomena's Roman Catholic School. There she developed several life-time interests and passions, including piano and writing. Anne and her father had a special bond, attending church every Sunday, with religion and spirituality becoming an important part of her life. After completing school, Anne moved to London where she worked as an office clerk for a few years. During that time, she continued to play piano, write, and pursued another interest which was live theatre where she performed in several plays and operas. Although she loved her family & friends and all that came with living in London, travel and new opportunities called to her.
In 1965, Anne immigrated to Canada and moved to Edmonton to stay with her cousin, and it was during this time where she met her husband, Mike. They married in 1967, settled at the farm in Weirdale, SK. They raised three children and farmed until retiring and moving to Prince Albert in 2004. Anne made several trips back home to England and Scotland. Anne and Mike took the entire family for a wonderful trip in 1978; Anne & Stella went back for a visit in 1988; and then in 2010, Anne & Claire took a special trip, with Mark joining them mid-way, and they had a wonderful visit with Anne's brother Jed, niece Michelle, and her daughters Shay and Lexie. In 1998, Anne and Mike also went on a trip to Europe, visiting such places as London, Rome, and Paris.
Anne was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting nana, supportive mother-in-law, and a kind and generous friend. She was a dedicated piano teacher for many years and enjoyed reading a good book with a cup of tea at hand. Anne still found time to write, including a book and many published short stories, articles, and poems.
Anne's two grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Madison was her first grandchild; they had a special bond and were very close when she was younger. Avery also had a special relationship with her nana; she was her little twinkle-star, and they had the funniest conversations that only the two of them could understand. They will both remember their Nana with love and affection.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Claire of Regina, SK; her son, Mark of Calgary, AB; her daughter Stella (Mike Putko) of Saskatoon, SK; her granddaughters Madison and Avery Antoshewski-Putko of Saskatoon, SK; her niece Michelle Abbott of London, England; as well as numerous relatives in Canada, England, and Scotland.
Anne was predeceased by her husband, Michael (Mike) John Antoshewski; her brother, Gerald (Jed) John Law; her parents Daniel and Agnes (nee Quigley) Law; her aunts Alice Quigley and Cathie Quigley; and her grandparents.
