Obituary for Darlene Shirley Schmid

Darlene Schmid (Muller) late of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully with her husband and daughter by her side on Monday, April 19th, 2021 after a long battle with various health conditions. Mom was born in Borden, SK to Edwin and Ida (Plantz) Muller on June 2nd, 1948. She married Norbert Schmid on October 8th, 1966. During their 54 years of marriage, they were blessed with two beautiful children, Devin and Jodi. Mom received her Secretarial Certificate in 1966 and began working at Canada Life. In May of 1968, she began working at Cherry Insurance until September of 1970, when she did what she loved most and became a stay-at-home mom for the next ten years. She then returned to Cherry Insurance when both children had started school in 1980. She obtained her Insurance Brokers License while working at Cherry Insurance until 2002 when she moved to Boyd Agencies/Western Financial Group where she finally retired in 2015. During the early year’s mom enjoyed camping, seeing the mountains, and traveling as a family to many different destinations; Hawaii being her favorite. Later mom enjoyed spending time at the casino as a source of entertainment. As her family grew, “Nanny” (given to her by grandson Matthew) kept her busy with babysitting, school celebrations, hockey rinks, and dance recitals. Mom is survived by her loving husband Norbert Schmid; their daughter Jodi (Jason) Pawliw grandchildren Matthew, Jasmine, Riley, and Katherine. Grandson Alex Schmid and estranged grandson Cameron (sons of Devin). Her brother Gaylord (Val) Muller, her sister Bonnie (Bob) Semenoff, and brother-in-law Aylmer Schmid, Aunt Evelyn Plantz, Uncle Ernie Hinke, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Mom joins in eternal peace her son Devin Schmid (2019), her Mom Ida Muller (2020), Dad Edwin Muller (2005), brother-in-law Raymond Matschke (1985), great-niece Kaebri Reid (2013), father-in-law Alwin Schmid (1997), mother-in-law Martha Schmid (Melz) (2003) and sister-in-law Doreen Schmid (2000); as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. A Celebration of life will be held on April 26th, 2021 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel for immediate family only. Service will be officiated by Pastor Hugh Farmer. Interment will be held at a later date.
