Obituary for Arsene Samoila

It is with great sadness, the family of Arsene (Pete) Samoila, Late of Prince Albert, SK, announce his passing on May 10th, 2021, at the age of 77 years. He passed away peacefully at home.
Pete was born July 31st, 1943 in Regina, SK to George and Rose Anne Samoila. The oldest of 7 children. He had 5 sisters and 1 brother. The family later moved and settled in the Prince Albert area.
After completing school, Pete trained as a Nursing Assistant, then started work at Holy Family Hospital in 1965. After a few years working on the wards, he moved into Department Management, where he became the Director of Central Supply, then later the manager of Housekeeping Department, until his retirement in 1997.
In the early days at Holy Family Hospital, Pete met the love of his life, Christine. They were married in 1967 and raised 4 children in Prince Albert, SK.
Pete enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and maintaining a beautiful yard. A true handyman, he created many wonderful and unique creations in his small home workshop.
Health issues later in life hampered Pete’s mobility. He suffered from severe back issues and required 2 surgeries to try and correct the issues. In 2006, he was diagnosed with leukemia (CML). The family will be eternally grateful to Christine, who was his constant caregiver and insured he lived the best life possible given the challenges. She was always there, caring for him.
