Robert Reid Obituary

Robert Arthur Reid, long-time resident of the Crystal Springs area, passed away on November 22, 2011 at the Birchview Nursing Home, Birch Hills, SK, at the age of 92.

Art was born on the family farm on August 13, 1919. Except for the time he was in the Canadian Army during World War II, Art lived on the farm and, until recent years, was actively involved in farming with his brothers.

His days as a bachelor ended on December 30, 1965 when he married Evelyn Evans (nee Orton) who had two children, Jean and Richard. Art later became the proud Grandpa to three grandsons and one granddaughter. Earlier this year he became a great-grandfather.

Art was able to stay on the farm until failing health resulted in his entering long term care in 2008. The family appreciates the excellent care he received while in Birchview.

Art was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn; his parents, Robert and Jane Ann; his brothers, Earl Reid, Lewis Reid and Roy Weatherbee. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jean (Dan) Reid and Richard (Valerie) Evans; grandchildren Rob (Dawn) Reid, Rick Reid, Brad Evans, and Amanda (Marty) Blondeau, and great-granddaughter Hayley Blondeau; brother Warren Reid; sister-in-law Agnes Reid; nieces and nephews and their families.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 1 p.m. at St. Marys and St. Annes Church, Birch Hills, SK. Lunch to follow the service. Interment at the Crystal Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Birchview Auxiliary, St. Marys Anglican Church, or to a charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
