Managing Owner/Funeral Director
Mark was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. He graduated from St. Mary High School in
1987. After High School, Mark took on many roles and jobs between Saskatchewan
and British Columbia. In 2001, Mark
started working for Walmart where he eventually took on the role of Assistant
Store Manager, both in Saskatoon and here in Prince Albert, for 10 years. In 2017, Mark joined Mackenzie Chapel and
never looked back. He has the role of Funeral Director/Manager, taking on more
responsibility, creating new ideas and new programs to keep up with peoples
needs and wants of today. Mark met his
husband Pedro in Peru and were married July of 2021 here at the funeral home.
Embalmer
Jordyn was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. She grew up in the beautiful northern community of Buffalo Narrows.
In 2019, Jordyn graduated from Twin Lakes Community School. After graduating,
she enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Saskatchewan. One of the courses she took, the psychology
of death and dying, sparked her interest in the Embalmer Program. After she
finished her first year at the University of Saskatchewan. she was accepted in
the Embalmer Certification program with Sask Polytech. She completed the
program in June 2023, and for the past two and a half years, she has been
working with Mackenzie Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, both as a student and as
a licensed embalmer. Outside of work. Jordyn enjoys spending quality time with
friends and family, traveling, watching films, listening to music, thrifting,
going for walks and caring for her two beloved cats, Daisy and Ginger.
Apprenticing Funeral Director/Embalmer
Troy was born in Hamiota, MB and raised in Minnedosa, MB.
Troy moved to Prince Albert, SK in 2006. Troy has been working at MacKenzie
since 2021. Troy is our crematorium technician and enjoys working in the
funeral industry. Troy married Melanie (Hodgson) Curle in July of 2009.
Together they have a daughter Aidan (18), a stepson Austin (29),
daughter-in-law Kerrigan, and 1 granddaughter Davina. Troy has always enjoyed
camping and especially fishing.
Funeral Attendant
Art was born in May, 1948.
He spent his boyhood years living in Waskesiu, Prince albert National
Park, before it was winterized, travelling an hour’s drive by school bus to
Christopher Lake School along the Scenic Route until Grade 9. After completing High School in Prince
Albert, Art attended Covenant Bible College for a one-year program. His career
as a Flight Service Specialist with Transport Canada/Nav Canada began in 1973
with training in Red River College in Winnipeg and Transport Canada Training School
in Ottawa with subsequent postings to Thunderbay, Churchill, The pas, Swift Current,
and back home in Prince Albert with temporary postings in the High Arctic. His
hobbies include Ham Radio (VE4YF, VE5YF, VE5AAP) and singing tenor in Church
and Community Choirs. He was a Lay Reader
in the Anglican Church for over 40 years in 5 different Dioceses and is
occasionally called upon to officiate funerals for Mackenzie Chapel. Art
married Diane Walker in 1970. Art and Diane have one daughter, Twyla (Michael)
Gange, and have 2 adult grandchildren William and Rebecca.
Funeral Attrendant
Lawrence grew up in Choiceland, SK and worked as a repair technician at the Television Service Centre, then moved to Prince Albert to finish school. He was employed with Elizabeth’s Floral in Prince Albert for more than 30 years as assistant manager and head designer then later with Val’s Floral. Lawrence attended Cliff Mann Floral School in Denver Colorado in the 80’s, receiving a diploma. Lawrence is a director for the Prince Albert Exhibition Association for more than 35 years and is also an active member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Prince Albert, SK. In November 2022, Lawrence was honored to be the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal by the Government of Saskatchewan for Volunteering. Lawrence has been employed for 7 years with Mackenzie Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in Prince Albert and is proud to be part of the team.
Funeral Attendant
Darlene was born and raised in Birch Hills, SK. After
graduation, she worked in the secretarial field in both Saskatoon and Prince
Albert. In 1973, she married Dale, and they settled back in Birch Hills. They
have three children, two boys and one girl. Darlene was a stay-at-home mom for
12 years and then returned to the work force in 1988, going back to university
and getting her LGA certificate. She then worked as the town administrator for
the Town of Birch Hills for 24 years, retiring at the end of 2012. As her children grew up, married and had
children of their own, she was blessed with 11 grandchildren. This takes up
much of her time as they are all involved in school sports, hockey, lacrosse
and dance. She’s also involved with the Birch Hills Housing Authority, Birch
Hills Historical Society as well as in her church. She began working with
Mackenzie Funeral Home in June of 2013 as a Funeral Attendant. She enjoys this
work as she enjoys meeting people. She also worked part time in the office for
a couple of years. She finds this work very rewarding as she likes being there
for people.
Funeral Attendant
Was born in Prince Albert but raised in Saskatoon and the
Lakeland area returning to Prince Albert in April of 2001 to graduate from
Carlton. I moved out to the Lakeland area where I started my family I have two
kids and one granddaughter and I share my time with them and the love of my
life while helping out on the farm. I
spent 14 years at the Hospital working for environmental services before
stepping away wanting to realize a lifelong dream which brought me to
Mackenzies in May 2022.
I have grown to be compassionate as I know what it is like
to lose a loved one and hope that in my services that I bring comfort to those
who I serve while treating everyone with absolute dignity and respect on there
final journey and to their families in there last moments spent with their
loved ones.
Funeral Attendant
Sandra is a retired nurse, and lives in Birch Hills,
Saskatchewan. She has two children and five grandchildren. After retiring in
2012, Sandra joined the Mackenzie Funeral Chapel as a Funeral Attendant. Sandra
feels this is something she always wanted to do, and she finds it very
rewarding to be there on the day of the funeral to help the grieving families
and other funeral staff anyway that she can.
Office Administrator
Mel was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. Mel has been
with MacKenzie since 2020 and really enjoys the funeral industry. Mel has been
married to Troy Curle since July of 2009. Mel has 2 children Austin (29) and
Aidan (18), a daughter-in-law Kerrigan, and 1 granddaughter Davina. Melanie
loves to spend time with her family, fur babies Shaggy, Bella, Piper, Princess,
and Binoo, enjoys fishing, camping, and most of all spending time with her
granddaughter Davina.
Office Administrator
Pedro Quinones is a resident of Prince Albert Saskatchewan.
He attends the United Calvary Church and loves sharing meaningful moments with
his community and supporting those around him. He joined the team at Mackenzie
Funeral Chapel one year ago as an Office Administrator, and he feels it has
been an incredible and fulfilling experience. Pedro is deeply committed to
providing compassionate and professional service to everyone who trusts us and
ensures that their needs are met with care and respect. In Pedro’s free time,
he enjoys the outdoors, watching tv series, playing board games, listening to
music and painting.
